Recently, I decided to venture into the world of The Ordinary skin care. If you haven’t heard of this brand I would definitely recommend checking them out. They have great skin care products at such an affordable price. Deciem, the company that makes The Ordinary, has several other beauty/skin care brands on their site. I hadn’t heard of most but their products were so original that I really wanted to try some other things out as well. One of the things that I was most excited about was Pore Delete by the brand Hylamide. This is another skin care brand but they do have several primers in their collection.
I have large noticeable pores on my cheeks that can sometimes by emphasized by certain products. I’m always looking for good primers and products that hide or cover-up the pores on my cheeks. I’m really careful about where I apply blush and highlight to avoid emphasizing these problem areas on my cheeks.
Pore Delete | $18.00
The product itself is a light liquidy cream. It comes out as a white color but when blended in quickly turns to clear so it doesn’t leave any sort of white cast. The directions say this product can be used alone without makeup or patted in over your problem areas on top of liquid foundations but underneath your powder products.
The first time I tried this, I used it exactly how the directions said, patting it in over top my foundation on my cheeks. It did immediately start moving my foundation around so I decided to use a sponge to help blend the product back around. This helped and it does take some patience but eventually, my makeup looked as good as new, but with fewer visible pores.
Now the second time I used this I put it on as a primer. It looked great at first, really making my skin look blurred. But the second I started putting my foundation it all went down hill. The foundation was bunching up and sticking to certain places of my face but not the other. It was super weird and I’ve never had a product act that way on my skin. now obviously this isn’t how the product is supposed to be used but since it did look so great on bare skin I thought it would act as a great primer – do not try this.
Whenever I’ve used this since, I’ve waited until I’m finished with my foundation and concealer then tap a small amount on my cheeks with a beauty blender. It does require some patience and effort but afterwards, there is a difference in your skin.
Does It Work?
Although I do see a difference in my skin after using this product, I can’t say I’m obsessed with it. It takes a lot of effort to get your makeup to look good after applying this on top and the difference is so slight, I can’t decide if it’s worth it. I really only use this product when I have the time to take however long I want doing my makeup and I don’t necessarily care how perfect it looks. It doesn’t completely ‘delete’ your pores but it does minimize them, enough that I don’t regret purchasing this product but I definitely won’t be repurchasing.
